Webinar Overview:

With the exploding use of social networking sites such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, issues related to such activity are coming to the forefront for employers. Many employees spend significant work visiting such sites, yet the majority of them believe their company has no business monitoring their on-line activity. Most employees admit they do not consider their employer’s interests when posting on-line. In contrast, the majority of employers believe they have the right to monitor employees' social media activity, though most do not yet have policies addressing this phenomenon. Many employees also use social media to screen applicants, which presents an array of legal risks. This presentation will cover the evolving impact of social media in the workplace and offer strategies to help employers, from both a practical and a legal point of view.

Webinar Objectives:

  • Recognize the growing prevalence of social media use among their employees
  • Discuss employee viewpoints regarding their employer's right to monitor or regulate their social media activity
  • Define legal risks associated with monitoring or regulating employees' on-line activity
  • Discuss tips for managing these issues in your workplace
